No Time To Die: How to Dress Like James Bond

28 Feb 2020

Opening the wardrobe on the new Bond movie – time for some style inspiration.

No Time To Die sees Bond return to his Highland home, an edge of the seat prospect that comes with the guarantee of misty moors, looming mountains, the DB5, guns, baddies and the bit we’re most looking forward to – new togs for Mr Bond!

The Barbour Beacon Heritage x To Ki To jacket Bond wore for his last Highland escapade created a shake (not a stir…) of seismic proportions in the country clothing community. Stock sold out, waiting lists opened and prices soared on re-selling sites. Having cast an eye over the wardrobe selection for No Time To Die, we predict a similar rise in popularity for ribbed sweaters, cords and tactical trousers. Read on to discover how to re-create some iconic James Bond outfits.

Jamaica

No Time To Die, the 25th Bond film finds Bond five years into retirement from active service, washed up in gilded seclusion in Jamaica, looking deceptively cool and unruffled in relaxed fit grey jeans, a loose shirt and deck shoes. It’s a lesson in simplicity, as easy as Brax Masterpiece Cooper Jeans, RM Williams Angus Shirt and Le Chameau Galion Nubuck Homme Deck Shoes.

Commander Bond

No Time To Die successfully reworks the commando combat uniform using a classic navy ribbed sweater similar to the William Lockie Scotia sweater, technical boots that bear more than a passing resemblance to Meindl Dovre Extreme GTX Boots, waterproof tactical trouser with braces buttons that could easily be Laksen Dalness Trousers with CTX, shooting gloves that might as well be SealSkinz Gloves and of course those braces which we know to be Albert Thurston but could just as well be a pair of Taggs Braces. Albert Thurston braces have featured in multiple Bond movies going back to Brosnan. Since Daniel Craig took the role he’s worn the White Moiré braces with a tuxedo in Casino Royale (2006), SkyFall (2012) and SPECTRE (2015).

Hanging by a Cord

The opening sequence of the trailer, filmed in Matera, Italy features Bond dangling from a cord, wearing cord. Bit of a Bond first. Not the stunt – though a round of applause for a great bit of action – no, we mean the corduroy. To our knowledge 007 has never before stepped out in needlecord. And it looks great. Never better. GANT does a great line in fine cord with a contemporary cut, GANT Regular Cord Jeans, just perfect teamed with RM Williams Collins Shirt , Dubarry’s Madden Silk Tie and RMW’s new RM Williams Risden Boot. Finally, the eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed that the braces are back.
