Border Union Show 2024 - 26th - 27th July

If it is the last Friday and Saturday in July, it can only mean one thing, it's the Border Union Show. The Border Union Show or Kelso Show as it is often referred to as locally, is a traditional farming show. With over 500 competitions for horses, livestock and industrial arts and 175 trade stands to peruse it's a big weekend in the local calendar and we can't wait to do it all again.

Come visit us on the far side of the Main Ring.

Food at The Border Union

If you know any of us at Humes well, you will know we are big foodies and if we have a chance to nip off the stand for a quick bite of lunch the food options are endless (and delicious). From baked tatties to wood fired pizzas and then there is the Food Fair in the main hall filled with artisan cheeses, meats and of course a sugary treat or two.

This treat from the Cookie Kitchen was much appreciated on the Sunday after a few busy days at the showground.

The Craft & Gift Marquee

What's a day out if you don't treat yourself, the Craft & Gift Marquee is filled with little stalls selling handmade and homemade crafts with home furnishings and accessories, art, jewellery, soaps and scents. There is nothing nicer than walking through the craft tent and admiring all of the love, passion and attention to detail that is poured into these handcrafted gifts.

Just some of the lovely things on offer in the Crafts Marquee.

Compete at The Border Union Show

There are many competitions held over the weekend, with sheep, cattle, horses, donkeys, sticks and crooks, goats and rabbits all on show. In the main ring the show jumping, carriage driving and pony club competition all draw in the big crowds. There is also a Bake and Create competition for those crafty exhibitors.

Things to do for Children at the Border Union Show

Out with all of the animals on show, trade stands and events there are lots of other things to do for children at the Border Union Show. With all of the big tractor and machinery suppliers turning out in force a shot in a tractor is always going to bring out the smiles. There is also a fun fair with rides, toy stands and usual fun fair culinary delights. One of our nominated charities RHET (Royal Highland Educational Trust) will also be exhibiting at the show and will have lots of educational and engaging activities for children to take part in over the course of the weekend.

We will be there in our usual spot with all of your favourite country brands including RM Williams, Schöffel, Fairfax & Favor, Dubarry, Hicks and Brown and many many more. As last year, we would love to see our wonderful customers who support us in-store, online and at the country shows to join us for a little refreshment. We will have music, competitions, cocktails and lots of goodies on the stand. If nothing else, pop in to say hello and let us know what you are up to at The Border Union Show.
