Reasons why you should own a pair of Dubarry Boots

Country life is hard on your footwear. With rain, mud, snow, saltwater, and rough terrain, it’s not only important that your feet are protected from the elements, but that you have footwear that you can count on. When there are dogs to walk, horses to muck out and cattle to feed, inferior boots simply won’t make the cut. When others are depending on us, Dubarry boots are the boots we rely on. They are boots with a price tag but here’s 10 reasons why you should invest in the best country boots and why Dubarry boots are worth the money.

1. Long-lasting, durable boots made by the best

Where is Dubarry made? Portugal has a longstanding history of producing the best quality boots, so it is no surprise that Dubarry boots are expertly handcrafted in Portugal by experienced bootmakers. Dubarry boots are made using a special process that combines soft supple, durable leather with GORE-TEX. The combination of expert crafting and the highest quality materials results in a boot that can last for well over 10 years with the correct care. With fast fashion, and lots of clothing and footwear going to landfill annually, you can rest easy that your Dubarry Boots will never go out of fashion and given their construction will be keeping your feet warm and dry many years, far away from the landfill (unless of course you are wearing them for some treasure hunting at your local tip, we won’ judge!).
“Very comfortable, sturdy and easy to clean after wading through mud. I have just met a lady wearing her Galway boots which looked like new to me. She told me they are 16 years old. What more can you ask from a boot?” – Anne Vickers

2. There is a fit for everyone

The popular Galway Boot is available in 3 calf fits: SlimFit which is narrower (approximately 1.25 inches than the regular boot) across the midcalf and top of the boot, it has the same foot entry and joint measurements as the RegularFit. ExtraFit is a more generous across the mid-calf (approximately 1 inch wider than the regular boot), it also has additional measurements at the foot entry for higher in-steps and additional joint measurement for a wider foot. The shorter, midcalf Kildare Boot is now also available in ExtraFit with additional measurements for high in-step and wider feet. Dubarry boots are true to size, however if you are unsure, we have an extensive size guide and fit guide, we also measure all boots in-house at A·Hume and these measurements can be found on the product size guide.

“Packaging was perfect when they arrived. Perfect fit, I got the SlimFit but I did measure my calves and studied sizing guide. Stylish and functional.” – Gail Ellershaw

3. Style options that suit all

Dubarry offer a huge range of waterproof, warm boots. From knee high to mid calf to Chelsea style and ankle boots. There are a range of finishing styles to suit all preferences including full zips for those with a high in-step and buckle details and drawstrings for those who prefer a more fitted look.

4. They will keep your feet warm and comfortable

Unlike their wellington counterparts, Dubarry Boots will keep your feet warm. They have a Gore-Tex® lining which removes moisture from inside the boot, keeping your legs and feet dry and warm. The sole is designed with a Cambrelle® lined in-sock with a PU (polyurethane) foam backed footbed. The Cambrelle® lining offers a combination of abrasion resistance and moisture management to keep feet comfortable and dry.
“Wore them today in minus 18 (I live at a farm in Norway and do need to get out in these temperatures). I found them warm enough when I wore two pair of thin woollen socks. Anyway - nice with high, good-looking boots that can withstand the cold and the snow!” – David Svaar

5. They are waterproof from top to toe, inside and out

Dubarry boots are also made from DryFast-DrySoft™ water-resistant leathers, scientifically treated to absorb less moisture and require 70% less drying time compared to other leather types. They have a breathable, waterproof, and windproof Gore-Tex® membrane. This membrane is unique as it allows moisture to escape whilst not letting any in.

6. A reliable sole

Dubarry boots consist of a lightweight sole which is Duo Compound PU (Pulyurethane) and rubber. The duo compound PU and rubber sole is injection moulded to the upper without using glue or stitching, instead it is pressed as one piece to ensure a robust tread and great support and creating a fully waterproof sole. The tough moulded construction of the sole helps prevents abrasion and the PVC support shank aids free movement whilst providing support along the full length of the foot making the boot comfortable for all day wear. The rugged cleated construction of the outsole provides a reliable grip on rough, wet, and muddy terrain and is shock absorbent for long days spent on your feet.

7. Easy to look after

Whilst Dubarry boots are made from the best, by the best, this doesn’t mean that the harsh lifestyle they are built for doesn’t put the boots under a little bit of pressure. With the right care you can get years of enjoyment from your boots. It is very easy to look after your boots, with step-by-step guides and purpose produced Dubarry care products, you can have confidence that you are caring for your boots the best way possible, further enhancing their longevity, look and durability, it’s also good to know that Dubarry also offer a repair service.

8. 12-month guarantee

Whilst we hope you would never need to use this, Dubarry back up their confidence (and ours) in the durability of their boots with a 12-month guarantee. If any faults should occur because of the manufacturing process you will be fully covered.

9. A versatile, all year-round boot

One thing we can promise you is that you’ll certainly get wear out of your Dubarry boots. They are ideal for everyday walking, farm life and other country pursuits, but equally are smart enough to be worn for a day at the races, dressed up with a tweed inspired outfit. You’ll even find use for your boots in the summer, given they are waterproof from top to toe, they are never out of place at the beach or at the riverside.

10. An icon of country style

Since the Galway Boot came on the scene in the 1990s it has become an icon of country style, loved by many a country goer due to its timeless style and hardwearing nature. It is a favourite amongst equestrian enthusiasts, adventure seekers and even the royal family!
“I was surprised by the cost of the boots, but I would definitely say that they are worth the price tag and the wife is very happy.” - Neil
