The Complete Guide to Cleaning our Leather Ariat Boots

A favourite of ours among our ladieswear collection are the elegant and durable Ariat Boots. Combining state of the art technology with the finest quality leather, they have kept our feet comfy and stylish no matter the terrain. Throughout this Autumn season they have helped us brave the elements through the puddles on our walks, the mud in our fields and even through the muck of the stables. So, to honour the tough work they have been doing we thought we would show them a bit of love and put together a cleaning guide.

Ariat Boot Care

Luckily for us, Ariat and Storm Care have partnered up to give us leather care products that not only cleans, conditions and polishes our boots so that they love us for longer, they have also made leather care products that look after our countryside too. How you may ask? Well in addition to not testing on animals and having containers made from recyclable aluminium, they have taken the steps to make sure their leather care products are environmentally friendly by being free from fluoro carbon, silicone and propellant gases. With our leather care being free from environmentally damaging chemicals and materials we can rest easy knowing that we can take care of our boots and the beautiful countryside around us. So, without further ado, let us get into the complete step-by-step guide.

Step 1 - Rinse the day away

So, let us imagine we have had a full-on day and that our Ariat boots have shielded us from dirt, mud, manure and even salt water when we took an impromptu trip to the beach. Before we do anything else, give the boots a rinse in fresh water to make sure we get rid of all the muck.

Step 2 - Scrub away tougher dirt

When all the initial grime from the boots is washed away, we can get a better look at some of the more ingrained dirt and bring out our Ariat footwear cleaner. We have found this product to be a godsend as it deals with stains and marks from all footwear material including suede, nubuck, rubber and leather. Arming ourselves with a soft bristle brush or damp cloth, we spray the cleaner on stubborn stains generously and give them a good scrub in a circular motion. Also take care to check the zipper for any gravel, dirt or sand that might be trapped and use the soft brush to clean them. When we are satisfied, it’s time to give the boots another rinse in fresh water.

Step 3 - Time to dry

We may find that at this point the boots may have become completely soaked through, so our advice to ensure no damage to the lovely leather is to stuff the boots loosely with absorbent tissue paper and let them dry at room temperature away from direct sources of heat. This ensures that when we return to our boots the leather will still be soft and supple.

Step 4 - Nourish your boots

Next step is to get our trusty bottle of get a bottle of Ariat Leather conditioner and spray it all over the shoe. With a cloth we rub in circular motions all over the boots, making sure to work the product into the boot from top to bottom to properly nourish the smooth leather.

Step 5 - Buff the scuffs

Once the conditioned shoes are dry, we might notice some stubborn scuffs or discolouration in the shoe. This is when we need to grab some Ariat cream polish in neutral that will cover scuffs, renew the colour and condition smooth leather. With a cloth we apply the rich cream polish in circular motions and when it has penetrated the leather, grab a soft brush and buff the boots until they shine.

Step 6 - Re-waterproof

We then bring out the all-important Ariat’s footwear waterproofer, which can be used on all footwear. Give your Ariat waterproof boots a liberal spray with the solution as this will allow them to have a water repellent finish in addition to further colour enrichment. Doing this routine when our Ariat’s need cleaning will not only ensure that they will look good but also contributes to their longevity. Meaning that we can use them as our muddy puddle companions for years to come.
